At the Burger Biannual in St Kilda recently, and despite already destroying a burger for lunch, I wanted some dessert. I headed over to the “Gorilla Grill” truck where an “American kitchen meets the streets of Asia” apparently?!

Burger : Gorilla Burger

Ingredients : beef, cheese, pickles, fine onions, ketchup, gorilla sauce

Patty : 6.5/10
Bun : 5/10
Sauces : 7/10
Ingredients : 6.5/10
X-Factor : 6.5/10

The meat and sauce were the highlights. Lots of pickles which took over the taste, and the bun was terribly dry.

Finally got to JD’s Burgers in Box Hill, which has been on my list for what seems like forever! This place combines Asian, Australian and American flavours and was also voted best burgers in Melbourne 2017 by “The World Loves Melbourne” Food, Travel & Culture Magazine. It took me a while to decide what to have as there is so many good choices.

Burger : Goku’s Fusion

Ingredients : Angus Grass-fed beef patty, American Cheese, Smoked Hardwood Streaky Bacon, Spanish Onions, Lettuce, Tomato and JD’s secret fusion sauce on a French Artisan Brioche Bun

Added extras : fried chicken schnitzel

Patty : 7/10

Bun : 6.5/10

Sauces : 5/10

Ingredients : 6/10

X-Factor : 6.5/10

Overall, this was pretty tasty. I found the mayo too tangy, and the lettuce wasn’t my favourite. Beef and bacon were good. Worth trying yourself, especially if you’re a fan of Asian flavours.
