Got my burger groove on for lunch recently and headed back to a place that I have been to more than a few times – “On It” Burgers in Ferntree Gully. I was there on opening day in January 2015 and this is the fourth time that I have reviewed one of their burgers. It’s great to revisit places where you enjoy eating, try different types of burgers and see how they stack up against all the others that have been devoured in between visits!

Now, it has been a little while since my last “galactic” visit to On It, and this time I noticed that the menu seems to have changed. They used to have “The Nod” burger, which is no longer on the menu, and I don’t remember them having chicken burgers or actual bacon either – only their signature Bacon Jammy. The menu now features 3 different sizes for each burger – small (90g), standard (150g) and double (300g), which allows varying appetites to still be able to enjoy the full range of burgers on the menu. Of course, I went for a double “On It” burger – double patties, tomato, lettuce, pickles, red onion, melted American cheese and smoky “on it” sauce. As I mentioned earlier, it’s good to try different burgers and compare, so I couldn’t resist throwing in a piece of free range crunchy chicken and some bacon too!

I was excited as I waited. Wondering how this was going to stack up. When it arrived, it looked good and I couldn’t wait to get stuck into it. This burger tasted great. Meat was tasty, and throwing in crunchy chicken and bacon turned out to be a good decision too. The flavours and textures all worked together really well. Tomato and lettuce were fresh, the melted cheese was good and there was just the right amount of sauce too.

This creation didn’t last long either as I hoovered through it like I hadn’t eaten in days. All washed down with a traditional chocolate milkshake this time, which was also decidedly tasty!!

Previously, On It has been solid and from my perspective always rated as a “TKO”, and whilst not considered a “contender” for best burger, it seems to have definitely improved, so get down there and wrap your lips around some of their tasty burgers.

What do you think of having a milkshake with your burger?
