Recently found myself down on the surf coast for a short holiday over the Easter break, when a trip to Geelong was on the cards for the day, so I decided to make my way to “Launch Espresso & Kitchen” for lunch. I had heard a fair bit about this place, and from what I could work out, it’s known for serving up some of the best burgers Geelong has to offer.

Situated within the Westfield shopping centre, it’s casual dining at its absolute peak, and I was pleased (and surprised) with the number of different burgers on offer too. I decided to go the self titled, “Launch” burger which came with double beef, double american cheese, bacon, lettuce and Launch sauce, plus, given I was so hungry, I couldn’t go past throwing in some southern fried chicken too!! I mean, why not huh?!

The burger was served in lightning speed, and looked amazing too. This was a good sized burger, even with the extra chicken added to it, and fitted nicely in my hands. I moved in and took my first bite, trying to get as much of each ingredient as I could. The first thing that hit me was how good the beef tasted, and how much flavour it had. Also, yet again, adding the chicken proved to be a smart move as it worked well against the beef. The cheese could have been melted a fraction more though and maybe they could have been a little less heavy handed on the sauce as it ran everywhere, making for a very messy experience. Otherwise, it was a solid burger that tasted good and ended up filling a very big hole in my stomach!

Chips on the side were ok, and to balance out the meal, I went healthy with a bottle of water to wash it all down!

If you are in the area, I’d recommend that you get down there, try it for yourself and let me know what you think.
