Another day, another craving for a burger. I wanted to make sure it was good quality too, so I headed down to “Burgled” in Oakleigh. This place is laid back, with sports playing on large tv screens in a relaxed atmosphere. I had good memories from my last visit, and was confident that it would not disappoint and end up hitting the spot again.
Last time, it was the Aussie “Bogan” burger and for a while now, I have wanted to get back and try the American “Gettysburger”, which comes with beef patty, lettuce, tomato, caramelised onion, pickles, mustard, aioli, cheese and ketchup. And given I was feeling so hungry, I decided to add an extra patty with extra cheese too, making it a “Double Gettysburger” if you like.
Served on a flat wooden board, the burger looked great. I couldn’t wait to get stuck into it, and the first bite was like a taste explosion. This classic cheeseburger styled beast had everything going for it. The meat tasted so good and the combination of other flavours were perfect too. The mustard, to sauce, to cheese, to pickles, to meat, to bun ratios were spot on. I destroyed it within minutes and enjoyed every bite.
Chips on the side were awesome, with just enough tasty flavour to leave you wanting more. I also decided to branch out a little bit more too by washing it all down with a snickers flavoured milkshake, which of course can only be described as “really satisfying”. The nutty, caramel, chocolatey flavour was delightful, and complimented the entire experience well.
This is definitely a place that you should get down to and try out – I’m sure you will not be disappointed. At some stage, I’m going to head back and try their challenge – a “Bogan” burger with triple patties and double egg, plus a milkshake and no doubt a whole lotta taste!!!
