The beautiful sunshine today got me in the mood for a burger, so I headed to Fat Bobs in Moorabbin. There has been a fair bit of hype about this place, including the Herald Sun claiming their “Jackie O” burger as the best in Melbourne, so I was super excited to get there!

Fat Bobs is an unassuming place set within an industrial estate and between two factories. It is very casual and done up like an American diner with lots of neon and vintage signs and booth seating everywhere! The menu came and I couldn’t go past the “Fat Bob” burger, with 180g grass-fed beef patty, BLT, spanish onion, tasty cheese, pineapple, egg and tomato sauce. It also comes with beetroot, which I had removed!

Served in a foil lined basket, it was stacked perfectly, although the combo of the egg and pineapple on top made for an experience more slippery than Bon Jovi’s best album! I would have preferred grilled onions rather than spanish onions, and iceberg lettuce rather than cos, but the meat patty was good quality, and the overall combo of flavours worked quite well. Bun was good in that it didn’t fall apart, but was a little crispy on top for my liking.

Chips on the side were ok. Ordered popcorn chicken for starters, which were delightful and highly recommend!

Definitely worth trying out for yourself, and I will be going back to test out the “Jackie O”, which is perhaps what I should have done today!!

What does everyone else think of Fat Bob’s?
