Today I was lucky enough to get back to a place I’d been before, but not reviewed – the South Melbourne Trader, just near the South Melbourne Market, which appears to have been (nicely) renovated with plenty of seating options and a relaxed atmosphere.

The cold wintery day had me aching for a good feed, and I ordered “the Aussie” burger which comes with a wagyu patty, fried egg, BTL, cheese, pineapple and mayo, served on a brioche bun. It also comes with beetroot, but as you know, I don’t go there with a burger!

My memories of this burger were good, so my excitement for another one was high! It was perfectly presented and did not disappoint. Nice soft bun, tasty meat and the right amount of other ingredients that complimented the taste. The mayo added a hint of something special too.

Hand cut chips on the side were particularly tasty, and the traditional Corona to wash it down made sure for a “lip smacking” experience.

Although it was not quite as good as I remembered, this is still a very solid burger and you should definitely walk away satisfied.

Is the “Aussie” styled burger always the best option?
