It had been a month since my last burger adventure, so I was super keen to get out and try something new. A new sponsor was announced at the local football, and it was a burger joint, so naturally my ears pricked up and got my full attention. Therefore, I headed over to “Good Company : Burgers, Brew and BBQ” in Mooroolbark to find out more about this place.
It was a Saturday night, and despite being early, it was filling up very quickly, which was a good sign. The menu is filled with burgers and American BBQ dishes. I went for “The Kitchen Sink” burger, which came with premium beef patty, maple glazed bacon, free range egg, American Cheese, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, pineapple, house made pickled onions, tomato relish and mayonnaise. Obviously, I told the waitress to “hold the beetroot” – there’s no room for that stuff on my burgers!!
This was a tidy, good looking burger, and I couldn’t wait to get stuck into it. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. Cos lettuce would not be my preference (I’m an iceberg guy!), and it also made for a slippery experience, especially when the mayo was across it too. The bacon was crispy and gave good texture to the burger. As usual, the egg almost stole the show, but this time it was the sweet, tasty pineapple that got my attention – it tasted sooooooooooo good! The bun was soft, tasty and on point too! Unfortunately, I thought the patty was too thin and got lost amongst the rest of the ingredients.
Chips on the side were slightly crispy and tasted great. No beer with this one, as I was driving, so I settled for some classic “tap juice” this time. I felt like a nice thick shake, but they were nowhere to be seen on the menu.
Overall, it was a good experience and the burger was pretty tasty. Next time, I would either throw in a second patty or add some fried chicken (probably the latter!) or I would give their burger challenge a go, which is a triple “kitchen sink” burger with fries. Either way, in the words of Arnie, “I’ll be back!”
Big burger love to blog sponsor Conquer Finance– without their support, this blog wouldn’t be possible!
