When you spend the morning in the sun, on the beach and in the water, you work up a strong appetite. Luckily when you’re in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast, there are enough burger places around to satisfy your hunger. This time it was a visit to “Burger Lounge” in Kirra to help fill an empty stomach. I have been to this place before, and was looking forward to destroying another one of their burgers!!

Last time I had their “Nirvana” burger, so I was interested in having something different this time. I went for the “Wagyu & Truffle Burger”, which is listed as their “signature burger”, so figured it would be a good bet. This burger came with wagyu beef patty, Swiss cheese, truffle mustard, tomato relish, garlic aioli, rocket lettuce, tomato, pickled cucumber and caramelised onions. I also decided to add bacon and egg too!

This was a reasonably big burger and looked good on arrival. I knew adding egg was a winning move as the yolk was already gently running down the sides of the burger. Mmmmm…… I was egg-cited and couldn’t wait to get stuck into it! Meat was super tasty, and the cheese, bacon, tomato, pickle and onions were spot on too. The truffle mustard had a strong flavour to it, and was just the right amount so it didn’t take over the taste of the burger. The bun could have been a bit softer, and for me, if you swapped the rocket lettuce for butter or iceberg, then the performance rating of this burger starts to push up higher.

Chips on the side were really, really good, and washed down with locally brewed Balter XPA, made for a good experience. If you are in need of a hunger busting meal, then this place is worth visiting.

What do you think of a burger after being at the beach?
