Desperate for a new burger today, so I ventured to “Burgled” in Oakleigh. An unassuming, funky kind of place, with bright orange walls, loads of sports memorabilia and most importantly, a variety of burgers to choose from on the menu. Flavours from across the globe are covered with burgers like “The Spartan” from Greece, “The Gettysburger” from the US and “The Berlin” from Germany just to name a few.
I went with the Aussie burger, which was appropriately named “The Bogan” – my kind of burger!! – beef patty, BLT, egg, cheese, onion, BBQ sauce and aioli (it comes with beetroot too, but you know the rules!). This was a great burger! The patty was very tasty, and the combination of ingredients worked really well together, especially the BBQ sauce and aioli, with neither taking over. Nice soft white bun, and perfect size too as I was not left feeling like a hefty walrus that needed to stumble out and claim that I wasn’t going to eat for another 4 days!
There were plenty of beers to choose from, and given the Carlton Draught was not on tap, opted for a Corona, which did the trick nicely and made the experience even better. Chips on the side were damn good too, so the only thing stolen at “Burgled” was my appetite!!
Whilst there are only burgers on the menu, the list is long and is also great value for money with most being under $11. Well worth a trip to find out for yourself.
